Pahang Traditional Food

I heard that you guys want to know about Pahang traditional food, so let me introduce it .....


Pahang has been known as the state that imports the largest durian in the world. The durian farm is located in Rauband has been known as the town of musang king

Tempoyak (fermented durian in Malay) is a spicy condiment often added to curries and stir-fry dishes. There are various types of tempoyak, due to its fermentation period. It is mildly spicy and sour and goes well with lettuce, rice, and petai (stinky beans in Malay). Adventurous food lovers can enjoy creamy tempoyak by having the Ikan Patin (fish curry with durian puree) at Go Bang Maju Patin Tempoyak (Sri Rampai, Kuala Lumpur and Temerloh, Pahang).

  • First : Sambal ikan bilis tempoyak


The tempoyak was made from durian. The people take the durian and put some salt then  put it in the fridge. This food was known in Raub many people eat in with 'petai'. One of the famouse restaurant that serve this food is Restoran Selera Serambi in Pekan, Pahang.



  • Second : Ikan Patin Tempoyak


Gulai Ikan Patin Tempoyak is all time favourite and best food in Pahang. Tourist must try this dish. It became the pride of the community in Pahang. Tempoyak gravy is golden yellow and catfish attract every visitor to come to Pahang. Among the restaurants that are famous for this cuisine is Gobang Maju Patin Tempoyak at Temerloh.



  • Third : Sambal Hitam



Last but not least is Sambal Hitam. Sambal Hitam Belimbing marries the sweetness of starfruit with the fire of red bird's eye chillies for a refreshing, tongue-tingling sensation. It's doesn't look appetizing being black, but for those of you who like sprinkling of spicy crispiness, you will enjoy this a lot on your rice and noodles !.
