Gur-E-Amir Mausoleum
Finally, I did it !
Hi, Farah's here~! I've visited a place that has been on my bucket list - Uzbekistan, or to be exact the city of Samarkand. Truly, a stunning city. Lots of historical landmarks, multiple good-natured locals - whom are keen to take photos with us and a variety of delectable food.
But, most of all, the place that really left an impression for me is the Gur-E-Amir Mausoleum.
Let me tell you why;
Gur-e-Amir is a stunning landmark that is also known as "Tomb of the King" in Persian. Against a backdrop of terracotta bricks, the mausoleum's facade is decorated with blue, turquoise, and white tiles arranged into geometrical ornamentations.

Interior of Gur -e -Amir |
With an even more picturesque interior, it is adorned with papier-mache stalagmites, those painted blue and gold. The stalagmites also tends to shine upon any light reflection, making the site's location to be more scenic.
Underneath the mausoleum's main chamber, in a crypt, lies the approximate locations of the tombs. Over Tamerlane's grave lay a huge block of dark green jade during Ulugh Beg's reign. This stone had previously been placed in a temple in the Chinese emperor's palace, and later, as Duwa's (a descendent of Genghis Khan) throne in the Chagatay Khanate. The marble grave tombs of Tamerlane's sons Miran Shah and Shah Rukh, as well as of his grandsons Muhammad Sultan and Ulugh Beg, are placed next to his own. Here, Mir Said Baraka, Tamerlane's spiritual mentor, is also buried.
A tip for any future voyage;
To avoid large groups, I do recommend visiting the Gur-e-Amir as soon as it opens. Even though the site is huge, it can get congested as soon as touring groups and their guides visit the site.
Side note;
Unfortunately, I don't have any site videos on me as it was a bit hectic. So, instead, I'll be inserting a video of a local busking performance, filmed at one of the bazaars. The performance would be a waste to not be shared. (pardon the rotation of the video, I can't seem to edit the orientation).
That's all, 'til next time <3.
